LEARN DEEP SNOW, FREERIDING AND SKI TOURING EASILY

The deep snow courses and guided ski tours are run every week by local, state-certified mountain guides from the “diebergstation” team.“diebergstation” has been offering courses and tours on the Tauplitz for years and we are delighted to have such a strong partner at our side. The content of the Goodtimes courses is specially adapted to you. Whether you are a beginner or have a lot of touring experience, together with our partner we have thought about what a perfect week should look like so that you get your money’s worth and come away from your vacation with a lot of new knowledge.
The Tauplitzalm extends to an altitude of just under 2100 m and is one of Austria’s insider tips thanks to its high snow reliability and low occupancy rate. The average snow depth here in March/April is still around 3 m and we have had great conditions for freeriding and touring in spring in recent years.
FREERIDE COURSES AND SKI TOURS IN DEEP SNOW FOR BEGINNERS
All our courses focus on the following five points:
1. the correct use of safety equipment – explanation and training
2. the right material to borrow and try out
3. guiding in the Tauplitzalm freeride and touring area
4. technical ski and snowboard tips
5. discuss alpine dangers and risk management
The general prerequisite is safe, speedy skiing (skis or snowboard) on the piste and the desire to finally go off-piste in a safe environment.
This special beginners’ course is geared towards your abilities and has a fixed program. In the three-day course from Monday to Wednesday, all the important basics of off-piste skiing in deep snow are covered and at the end you will not only get to know a new facet of snow sports but also be equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The course will be challenging, physically demanding and mentally challenging. Safety training for emergencies and the use of equipment are just as much a focus as individual technique training off-piste. The aim of this course is to teach you how to ski off-piste while spending as much time as possible on your skis or snowboard.
FREERIDING AND SKI TOURING IN DEEP SNOW FOR ADVANCED SKIERS
THE CONTENT IS MAINLY BASED ON THE CONDITIONS
The general prerequisite for participation in our freeride week for advanced skiers is the ability to ski safely and without falling in all snow conditions. As a rule, first experiences off-piste and in deep snow have already been gained. The goal for this week is to recognize personal limits and ideally to expand them.

In general, the content of this week is mainly geared towards the respective conditions and the resulting possibilities, which is where the advanced course differs from the freeride beginners’ course. While the course for beginners deals with fixed content in the area of technique training, various safety aspects and the correct use of equipment, the offer for advanced skiers is much more flexible. On three days during your week, the guides from diebergstation will be out in the terrain with you. Depending on the conditions, this could be a longer ski touring trip to the Tote Gebirge or a freeride trip to the Dachstein or Krippenstein – the exact program will be put together at the beginning of the week. This flexibility guarantees that you can take advantage of the best conditions of the week. If you want to book additional touring or freeride days, this is no problem on site.
SAFETY AND EQUIPMENT FOR FREERIDING IN DEEP SNOW
ADAPTED TO THE LEVEL OF THE GROUP
Safety equipment is provided for all participants in the freeride offers. Your ski guide will pick us up at the hut in the morning and hand out shovels, probes and avalanche transceivers – the course naturally begins with an introduction to the use of the equipment until everyone has learned how to use it safely. If you have your own equipment, you are of course welcome to bring it with you.

If you need equipment for the ascent, e.g. snowshoes, touring skis, skins or a splitboard, that’s no problem at all – just let us know in good time, because it has to be organized in advance in any case. Let us know in advance by e-mail and we will reserve the equipment for you at one of the local schools. This way you can be sure that you have everything you need. This additional equipment is not included in the price and will be charged separately with the rental company.
