Yoga retreat by the sea – Reconnect with Lisa

The sea is something so big, so deep…when I’m by the sea, listening to the waves crashing and watching the water, I immediately feel grounded and more connected to nature again. The fact that we can practise yoga by the sea at Goodtimes Surfcamp, right in the middle of nature, is such a gift and a very special experience that you can look forward to!

Reconnect – Lisa’s yoga retreat by the sea

Reconnect – for me, this involves a connection to myself and to others. Connecting with myself and being closer to myself and feeling more connected to other people as a result. This is exactly what I hope for this week with you – that at the end of the retreat you have had a wonderful time by the sea and feel even more at ease with yourselves, are closer to yourselves again and experience a connected time with others. And all this with lots of fun, joie de vivre and lightness.

I love to start the day with a yoga session! Do you too? The body is still tired and rusty from sleep and afterwards everything feels so free and light!

We start each day of our yoga retreat with an energizing flow class in which we wake up our bodies, stretch really well and create space. We will certainly also try one or two challenging asanas to leave our comfort zone from time to time and push ourselves. We end the morning practice with a meditation or a mindfulness exercise to start the day clearly, consciously and full of positivity.

The evening sessions are characterized by a cooling, grounding practice to process the experiences of the day and bring body and mind back into harmony. Here we do a mix of yin yoga and gentle evening flow, paired with meditation and calming breathing techniques. We also integrate journaling and reflection questions to help you fall into a restful sleep full of gratitude.

Yoga off the mat

In the sessions at the yoga retreat, we will also always be guided by the question of how we can live yoga “off the mat” and what can help us transfer it into everyday life. Here, the yamas and niyamas are a wonderful guide to yoga philosophy, which I would like to introduce to you during the week.

I really hope that every participant goes home with a full suitcase – and by that I don’t mean full of dirty yoga and surfing clothes, but with lots of new knowledge, new experiences, perhaps new friends, with the feeling of having given themselves time for themselves and with a deeper connection to themselves and their bodies. It’s going to be great!

For me, yoga is about strengthening and connecting body and mind. On the one hand, I want to be able to let go, but on the other hand, I also want to be alert and present in the here and now, aware of what is happening inside me. At the same time, it is important to me that it is enjoyable and fun. It can feel easy and challenging at the same time. My wish for myself is that I can get deeper into myself with every practice. It’s also important to me that I don’t leave what I’ve learned on the yoga mat, but that I can transfer it more and more into my everyday life. Sometimes I succeed better, sometimes worse. It is a path and I enjoy walking it – with the awareness that I myself can always learn something new and never arrive.

I FEEL BETTER AFTER EVERY PRACTICE – REGARDLESS OF WHETHER I WAS ON THE MAT FOR 90 MINUTES OR JUST 10 MINUTES.

I did my first yoga teacher training (200h) in Costa Rica in 2018 during a 5-month sabbatical. At the time, I only wanted to intensify my own yoga practice and learn more about yoga philosophy. However, I realized during the training that I really enjoyed teaching. Two years later, I completed another 200-hour training course at Kale&Cake in Munich. Since then, I have been teaching regular classes in Munich and love passing on my yoga knowledge to my students!

I teach Vinyasa Flow, Liquid Flow and Yin Yoga. I also love to lead pranayama techniques and meditations!

In addition to my work as a yoga teacher, I have been a personal development trainer and qualified business and life coach for many years. For me, the connection between body, mind and soul is perfectly reflected in these activities and I love the combination of mental, physical and emotional work.

Lisa’s yoga style and yoga philosophy

I want my yogis to feel comfortable, have fun and enjoy moving, breathing and connecting with themselves. In my yoga classes, I try to convey my own experiences and create a space for my students to have new (body) experiences. It is important to me that everyone feels good and safe on their mat. At the same time, I also encourage people to leave their comfort zone, because only then can we truly grow. We naturally prefer to do the things that are easy for us. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that these things are always good for us. That’s why I like to follow the credo “If you don’t like it, you need it”

I deeply believe that yoga can heal us on many levels. The physical level is self-explanatory due to the asana practice that we usually associate with yoga. But the mental, energetic and emotional levels are often not so much on our radar. But everything is connected. Yoga can be a wise and valuable teacher if we are prepared to look, listen and perceive what is happening to us on all levels.

The importance of practicing yoga for Lisa

For me, yoga “off the mat” means that I manage to pause from time to time in my everyday life, feel how I am feeling and connect with myself. To be mindful and present, to take a deep breath before I fall into an automatic spiral of stimulus and reaction. Giving myself a treat every now and then and learning to interpret my body’s signs better and better. I also try to apply and reflect on the behavioral principles of yoga philosophy – the yamas and niyamas – and incorporate them into my daily actions. You can learn more about the Yamas and Niyamas in the retreat with me

I once experienced a very intense yoga class after which I lay in savasana and cried my eyes out because so much had come up inside me. I just let it happen and let the tears flow. It was good to let it all out and the feeling afterwards was very liberating. This experience was very memorable for me and showed me once again that yoga is not just a sporting activity, but so much more…

Bouldering vacation

Our family trip in France takes place in our bouldering camp near Fontainebleau, which is wonderfully secluded in the middle of one of the forest areas for which the region is so famous – the nearest bouldering sector is within walking distance.

Surf vacation
as a family

Our family trip to Portugal takes place at our surf camp and has now been a tradition for over 10 years. For a few weeks a year, our surf camp is transformed into a children’s paradise by the sea – you can see the waves from the grounds at all times and you are less than 100m from the water.

There are three beach houses on our large grounds, which are for communal use. The houses are surrounded by a shared garden, where there is a campfire site and plenty of sports facilities with a basketball hoop, table tennis table, beach volleyball net and spike ball sets, so that young and old can romp around the grounds all day long. The houses are also equipped with lots of board games, card sets and other beach toys so that nobody gets bored.

A small stone wall surrounding the site makes the camp area self-contained and it’s easy to keep an eye on the children while you watch the waves on the terrace or simply lie in the sun.
